Article 5: The Executive Committee
Overview
Being the principal organ of the Samiti, the Executive Committee has been charged with the responsibility of carrying out the objectives of the Samiti as set forth in the Memorandum of Association re-produced at Appendix-II. The Committee is mainly responsible for the management of all affairs and funds of the Samiti and is authorized to exercise all powers of the Samiti. The Committee also exercises control and supervision over the functioning of the Vidyalayas.
Composition
The Minister for Human Resource Development serves as the Chairman of the Committee. The composition of the members of the Executive Committee is detailed in the Memorandum of Association at Appendix-I. The following members constitute the Executive Committee of the Samiti:
- Minister in the Ministry of HRD - Chairman
- Vice-Chairman of the NVS - Vice-Chairman
- Secretary (SE&L) Ministry of HRD - Member
- Representative of the Ministry of HRD - Member
- Representative of the Ministry of Finance (Ex-officio) - Member
- Chairman, CBSE (Ex officio) - Member
- Vice-Chancellor, National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) - Member
- Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangatan (Ex-officio) - Member
- Director, NCERT (Ex-officio) - Member
- Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (Ex-officio) - Member
- Educationist who is member of the society - Member
- Educationist who is the member of the society - Member
- Joint Commissioner (Academic) NVS - Member
- Joint Commissioner (Admn.) and Ex-officio Secretary of the Society - Member
- Any person who ceases to be a member of the Society ipso facto ceases to be a member of the Executive Committee.
Meetings
The Committee shall meet whenever the Chairman thinks fit and at least once in every quarter. For every ordinary meeting of the Committee, at least 10 days notice shall be given in writing to each member. Five members of the Committee present in person shall constitute a Quorum at any meeting of the Committee with its present membership.
